Hey I have done a search and cannot find information on it...... my question is what is the number suppose to be that is on the brass plate soldered onto the radiator suppose to be for a mk -1 1967 cooper s? Cheers

you mean the little plate that was soldered on to the fins that's never there because it falls off?

Usually soldered onto the top tank..... I have a few that are different numbers. But yea that’s the one I’m talking about .

If the plate is soldered to the top tank near the pipe its a early 850 / cooper if its near the cap like Winabbey has shown its for the later models. And both tanks are different to each other.

I was actually thinking of this plate (looking at it, I think it's a piece of brass feeler gauge anyway)

but I had it confused with this plate (from the same radiator)

it's probably from being reconditioned or recored at some point. I think this is the radiator that was on my S

I have a radiator with one of the plates Doug showed, I'd take a picture of that too but it seems like it's a structural member in my tower of radiators and I couldn't get it out

I still have the Newcell label still on my radiator but it’s quite unusual for them to still be there because any time the radiator would be cleaned out or repaired they heat up the top tank and it would just fall off and be thrown away. Most radiator shops wouldn’t be bothered trying to solder it back on.
