Post subject:  Door handles for a 1970 Mini-K?
Hey all,
Just looking through various spare parts sites and it seems the door handles for my 1970 Mini-K are no longer available? Will any of the other types fit?

I assume you mean the outer chrome ones.
New ones have not been around for a long time. Second-hand would be your only option. If badly pitted, they can be rechromed for a fee. I have just had a LH one rechromed. Excellent finish and fairly dear - but it can be done.

Sorry, yes I did mean the outers. May have to uninstall and get reamed by a chromer then :(

Be prepared for more than a five minute job to remove the handle. To get the wind-up window plus door opening mechanisms in that tiny space while retaining a door pocket was a brilliant piece of design and engineering, but at the expense of easy maintenance. There are a lot of "how to's" to assist but it's still a fiddle. I've just done one and another to go.

By the way, MKO may still have NOS of the LHS outer handle.

Sorry to resurrect this guys but will the available MK1/MK2 escutcheon parts fit my K? At least that way I only need to get the handles done.

Pretty sure those are different. But do fit our 850 doors.

Door latch assembly and then the handle assembly can come out with window in. Just wind it right up first.
Practice your expletives though, you will use a few. ;)

And pack a towel into the gap at the bottom of the door shell to catch falling bits.
