Hello All
What are the best belts to fit to the rear, Inertia or the normal type ? Both types available.

I guess it's personal preference - fixed is more original

The convenience of inertia reels might be outweighed in a sudden stop by the relatively small amount of room in a Mini.

Inertia reels can allow some brief forward movement before locking, plus

Seat belts are designed to "extend" when locked and restraining under high G (once extended (stretched), they have done their job, throw them away).

Therefore, a firm fitting non-inertia belt has the advantage of immediately restraining in a confined space.

Inertia reel belts are not used in racing.

I have a similar question about rear seat belts in an early mini.
Does any one have tips on where to get them fitted in Sydney and any idea as to what type of additional body work bracing or plates are required? Especially for the rear parcel shelf?
Looking at the plates in the later clubmans it doesn’t appear too much extra bracing was required?

Little's in Blacktown. On Sunnyholt Rd.
There is another place on Powers Rd opposite O'Brien Glass, can't recall the name.

This has been discussed many times without an agreed, simple answer. If you do a search on "rear seat belts" you'll find over 300 hits, although many are hits on the same thread. Suggest you have a look at what's been said already.

Thanks guys
I looked in “how to” but couldn’t find any thing
Maybe after I sort it out a new How to can be added?
It’s been a while since the last one was added :)

It's simple really, go to your local engineer and ask. Take some pictures of later mini belt mounts with you to show him.

An update on my progress.
I spoke with Mobility Solutions at Hornsby and they can assist with fitting rear seat belts and certification. Quoted me $440 per seat belt supplied and fitted plus $440 for certification.
I have also spoken with a seat belt and baby seat fitting company at Brookvale who I have set up a visit with the car after Christmas. Said they could be a little cheaper for belts but Mobility Solutions will still need to provide certification.
General concensous from a few mini owners who have rear seat belts is they have fitted them and not worried about certification. I guess it’s fine until they are needed? Then a mini is probably not the best car to have an accident in.
I did fit rear seat belts in my Cooper S in the 70,s before certification was such a big thing.
