I have 3 12G295 cylinder heads. I want to use one on my 1990 998 mini. They all seem to be in good condition but have all been slightly skimmed. Head 1 skimmed from 2.75 to 2.67. Head 2 skimmed from 2.75 to 2.63. Head 3 skimmed from 2.75 to 2.59. Considering that 80 thou (2mm) is recommended, I would of thought head 1 would be the correct one to use on my 988? Does this seem to be correct? Thanks |

Use the thickest one. The concern with all these old small bore heads is deck thickness, they nearly all have corrosion inside after 50+ years and this thins them down. If too thin they blow gaskets. |

I totally agree. The 3rd head looks alarmingly thin already. Cheers |
