Hello from Spain, i'm looking for info about the rear seat belt mounting points and i found two threads about it

http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=84411&hilit=seat+belt+rear+shelf
http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=626757

but i couldn't see the images as they're in a photobucket server.

If someone could upload images of the reinforcements of the rear shelf I will be very grateful as I want to reinforce mine to install rear belts.

Cheers

Here’s what I’ve done with mine. Reinforced with 3mm plate and made a 50mm high riser to sit the retractable seatbelt reels on. I will get it engineered when the car is on the road.

Do you know if you have local regulations in your country about seatbelt points?

Somerford mini in the UK do a weld in kit the same as the late UK cars

Hello and thanks for the answers. In my country the later minis have the factory fitted plates similar to Someford kit.
The problem is that the installation requires welding to c-posts and my car is already painted so I'm looking for a solution similar to that adopted by Australian minis that does require welding in non sensible areas or a non welding approach (like hpal in previous post).

I have also seen the approach adopted by forum member Morbo28 in this post http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=86822&start=795. Morbo28 comments that is guided by an engineer.

No spreader plate is going to be much good when the panel it's attached to can't take the load... Factory cars with seatbelts mounted to the parcel shelf had a lot more reinforcement between the main panel and the body.

My thoughts exactly.. The red reinforcing plate shown above does nothing to distribute loads away from the parcel shelf.... and is a complete waste of weight and money...

Have look at the reinforcing plates that Leyland installed....

I’ll let my engineer be the judge, if he’s happy then I’m happy.
