How can we be sure the mini my husband just bought me is the model we were sold as, we were told its a 1976 Leyland Clubman GT, but since buying we have been told different.

I have always liked them but this is my first that hubby bought for me.

This is the body compliance plate its not the original engine

There's no such thing as a 1976 Clubman GT, they were only made from '71 through '73

021D2S1M09 is the model number for a standard Leyland Mini Sedan - the base model. You can tell this from the body because it has add-on wheel arch flares, the higher spec (but same engine) Leyland Mini S model had flares with metal supports that were welded to the body

It's a beautiful car, it can be whatever you make it - love it because it's yours, and because your husband (who loves you more than you can possibly imagine) bought it for you

another reason to love it - it was made in December 1976, the same month and year as me, so it's extra special ;)

Good on yr trophy win, i hate to have to tell my husband they its not the model he paid for, it now has a bored out 1275 motor to 1330, rebuild, have all the paperwork for this plus a spare engine and gearbox plus heaps and heaps of spares inc 2 mudguards, 2 front n two back new windows and set if new bumperbars, but it looks and drives ok so will just enjoy my buttercup lol

Yes certainly not a GT, and I hope you didn't pay GT money

Midge - I think this is the most important part of the discussions you've been having since acquiring the car, including a few weeks ago on here. A genuine GT is worth a lot more than any other model in the range. If you paid a premium because you were assured by the seller it was a Clubman GT then you may want to consider your options.

A pretty good description of the GT is in Register published here - viewtopic.php?f=45&t=90886
