Post subject: | Slide to the left while braking |
Hi guys, got a weird one, that my local mechanic has his head scratching.. When braking the car veers ( very slightly to the left), we have checked the brakes ( minisport 4 pot alloy 7.5") , pads, bleed the fluid (new stuff) aligned the car, checked the steering rack... Any ideas. being Hydro the left rides a few mm higher then the right ( when Im in it) The handling is spot on and is amazing best its ever been.. when I fitted the brakes they had to cut down the original brake pads on them perhaps I have have a tad more brake pad on one side perhaps Cheers Brett |

Cutting the backing of the brakes pads wont matter. Its only for clearance and none of the pad surface is touched (that I've ever seen). Has it only just started, if so what have you altered lately? Are the rear brakes adjusted correctly and the same? Castor bushes ok? How old are the flexible brake hoses? Are the steering arms on the hubs tight? Tyre pressures the same? Just my first thoughts! Good luck |

And is the pedal solid? Could be air in the rh caliper. |

Steering arm dowels loose in the swivel hubs or arms? New bolts alone don't fix this. They need to be a TIGHT fit. |

I had a similar experience with my previous Mk2 S and it turned out to be a worn upper arm pivot shaft and bearing. Could not detect it when hydro pumped up and loaded but that was the problem Cheers Rod |

Consider flexible brake hoses u/s. Or even steering rack bush worn. |

Brett, Try putting the rear tyres on the front and front on rear. Tyres may be the problem ![]() |

Are the rear slave cylinders the same inside diameter? |
