Post subject:  Mini Clutch P roblems I wish I was a Mechanic.

Hello All,
I had the engine gearbox and clutch reconditioned Motor sounds great but I cant get the clutch to work, With the hydraulics working the clutch pedal only goes in about half way. I disconnected the slave cylinder and put a lever on the clutch arm it did not move the ball on the arm is fine ,I have a new arm arriving tomorrow, I set the large nuts up as per workshop manual, and the return bolt .Anyone got any ideas ?I am hoping the clutch is ok inside, TY

Step 1. Remove the large bolts ... the ones on the end of the release bearing shuttle.. and see if things improve...

yep..those thingies

Sorry

Step 2. Peel back the rubber cover on the slave cylinder. Have attractive assistant press clutch pedal as far as it will go. Check that the slave piston is not running up against the C-clip retainer at the outer end of the cylinder bore with the pedal as far down as it will go..... (no need to force it).

when I used a length of square tube on the clutch arm it would not move in, would an attractive assistant fix it ? This would be a problem for me as I am bald and pretty ugly,

you didn't put the clutch plate in back-to-front did you?

if you can't move the arm with a bar, then the spring plate is hard up against something, take the wok off and have a look

So you are saying that when you push the pedal the arm doesn’t move at all???

If you installed new clutch straps are you sure you put them on the right way round?? There are two options and the wrong one will lock the clutch solid....
