While new pushrods were put in engine we looked for clearance issues and found a few minor ones .
This is an Elder 7 port stroker. We marked every pushrod with a dot of black texta and rotated the motor by hand .
Rotation was seen on all but two with slight clearance issue. Didnt think you would see this manually turning the motor .
The cam and lifters are good spec obviously

This has to be a good thing?

Lifters have a slight spherical radius (around 6FT rad!) and the cam lobes a slight cross angle. This combination rotates the lifters so they minimise wear.

Thank goodness. I thought I wasn't seeing something there. I'm not exactly mechanically minded.

Low speed friction would explain why they're moving though?

If they were ground flat and cam lobes parallel they don't spin. They then wear unevenly.
Some recent lifters made in Asia were so poorly made that they needed radius grinding before use.

Some spin is normal.
