maybe they're sold with that much movement to suit small bore and big bore spacing?

I had to fiddle around a fair bit with spacing on minisport rockers

No its not spacing Ive dealt with that It appears most aftermarket rockers need packing under pedestals. They are a great product. The arc the roller makes with the valve tip needs to be an even span around half lift Ive done pretty good

This site shows the calcs.Note this is for mgb and our rockers are 1.5 ratio.
http://www.flowspeed.com/titan-rockers.htm
Even with 3 mm packing and accurate measurement they could go a bit higher
The Med roller tips appear to be made by Titan. They have the bigger shaft and are top quality.
The new LDX series are even more improved but it would be hard to move the spacing to compensate for offset valves.
Heres my calcs Feel free to correct me
Correct rocker shaft centerline height for a .327" lobe cam RE282 and 1.5:1 ratio Titan rocker arms would be calculated as follows:

Example height of valve tip above rocker pedestal base in cylinder head = x" (will be different for every cylinder head) Mine is 1.2"

Roller tip radius = .240" same for MED 1.5

One half net valve lift = (.327" / 2) = .164" × 1.5 = .246"

Therefore:

(1.2" + .240") = 1.440"

1.440" - .246" = 1.194"

1.194" is the corrected rocker shaft centerline height above the pedestal base in the cylinder head.

Add half the rocker shaft thickness and its easy to measure down to the deck from top of shaft
