1970 CS I hope this is not a dumb question I am in the final stages of finishing the rebuild. The engine gearbox clutch have been reconditioned. New slave cylinder etc when I bled the slave cylinder I could only get about half a pedal. The mechanic fitted a new clutch arm and he showed me the old arm which was bent forward ,he did not know why it had been bent. Anyone had this problem before ? TY Allen |

The only reason that a clutch arm is bent is because there was excess play in the pivot points or worn components and instead of replacing parts people would just bend the arm. If you have new components then there should not be any issues. Have you adjusted the small air gap between the stop bolt and arm as per the workshop manual? Also check you have the longer pushrod (13H396) about 3 1/2" long. The same slave cylinder covers a few different BMC models and some of those have shorter pushrods. |

I would be interested to know what you mean by "could only get half a pedal".. I just don't see how a bent lever would affect the pedal...... If you don't fit the return spring to the slave cylinder you won't need to worry about adjustment. More input needed.... Cheers, Ian |

I remember one of my Mini's had a bent arm but that was the way it was manufactured. |

Thanks Guys Seems like its working ok now I adjusted the big nut and the clearance bolt. TY for your help .Another question .The hand brake cable is adjusted correctly and so are the rear brakes, new cable etc. Is it normal for the adjusting nut to be half way down the adjusting thread? Allen |
