I know it's not the job of the registry to list and state - FAKE.. !!! However.. people will/could use the registry as a place of verification.. So, I would like to bring to peoples attention that some DIK on EBay is trying to make a quick BUCK out of our passion. Clearly stating that the car was written off 30 years ago in Cessnock. and is sell the ID Plate and the Block for $ 3000.00+ Now it's only worth that much to create a COOPER COPY...... NOT a REPLICA.. but a true FAKE and then use the registry as verification.. as 4772 is ON THERE.. !! Turn.. a $ 20 K replica into a $ 40 - 50 - 60 K FAKE.. NOT COOL... EBAY ITEM NUMBER 173310041624 or if its been deleted, click on the link below... I took a screen shot http://www.sparkplugs.com.au/images/k20mini/EBAY_COOPER_S_ID_PLATE_4772.jpg ... Hmmm.. DISCUSS P.S. I was sure I saw a listing from QLD for a Cooper S Rad surround panel .. with the correct numbers M2/06 etc.. ( one of the many things to look for in an S ) |

They are not a VIN plate. Here are some past discussions on plates that he has been selling if you want to do some light reading. One of the listings on Ebay he said "Other original factory tags available of the Mini range.ie Cooper 997.998/Cooper S/1275 LS , 850, 1275 1100S ect ect. " I don't believe it is illegal to sell ID plate " Agree,.. not the point I was making.. it's more about making a list of DOA Mini's So they don't rise from the DEAD  and bite someone on the (_)_)Classic Car prices are on the way up..Up..UP.. at the moment.. and the value of this plate is ONLY its not flagged in list of DOA Mini's. |

If the ID plate is used on a replica to pass it off as an original car then that is probably fraudulent. RonR |
