Hello Everyone Could someone please tell me what the standard needle was for a standard 1098 cc . At the moment it has a #5 and seems to be a bit rich . Thanks, |

I don't think the HS4 was standard on 1098 engines here? The chart here has the CZ listed for fixed needle and ABJ for bias (spring) needle https://www.7ent.com/pages/articles-tec ... eedle.html |

Yep HS2 was standard. There are lots of previous questions about this. Just do a search for HS4 needle or the like. search.php?keywords=hs4+needle&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search |

I found a CP4 works well in an hs4 with sports filter. On a 1098. |

A #5 looks like a plausible option as well |

5 needle was used on MG & GT 1965-66 in twin HS4s. Maybe that's where the carb came from? My little book says that 1098cc minis using HS4 single carb as standard (as in auto minis) for '65-'66-'67-'68-'71 all used DL needles as Std. If Dr Kev says CP4 works then that's a good guide. CP4 and DL are leaner than #5. |

Note I said with sports filter. Ramflo. CP4 may be a little rich with a stock filter. |
