Hello Everyone
Could someone please tell me what the standard needle was for a standard 1098 cc .
At the moment it has a #5 and seems to be a bit rich .
Thanks,

I don't think the HS4 was standard on 1098 engines here?

The chart here has the CZ listed for fixed needle and ABJ for bias (spring) needle

Yep HS2 was standard.

There are lots of previous questions about this. Just do a search for HS4 needle or the like. search.php?keywords=hs4+needle&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

I found a CP4 works well in an hs4 with sports filter. On a 1098.

A #5 looks like a plausible option as well

5 needle was used on MG & GT 1965-66 in twin HS4s. Maybe that's where the carb came from?
My little book says that 1098cc minis using HS4 single carb as standard (as in auto minis) for '65-'66-'67-'68-'71 all used DL needles as Std.
If Dr Kev says CP4 works then that's a good guide. CP4 and DL are leaner than #5.

Note I said with sports filter. Ramflo.
CP4 may be a little rich with a stock filter.
