Same as a MK2 S but it would have an earlier date like this one and an A instead of B.

on a side question are the base plates fixed since it dosnt have vacuum advance

They have a fixed points plate and a 15 deg mechanical advance plate underneath.

I use an Innova dial back timing light and take a reading every 1000rpm to plot a curve.

Yep, I have the same Innova and find it very easy to use. You just need a clearly labelled TDC marker and you can work out the rest using the dialback feature.

You can also take to an old school auto electrician and they can spin it up on the bench dizzy tester.
