I was wanting to find out if it matters which heater hose goes to the heater (From the top of the block and the bottom radiator hose to the heater core and the heater no/off valve) Thanks |

I have never found a definite answer to your question either. But the hottest water in the engine is furthest away from the radiator - the outlet on the head, above No. 4 cylinder. So I connect that hose to the top spout of the heater so that when the water loses heat in the heater core, it will tend to sink (cooler water is denser). The bottom spout of the heater core is connected to the bottom radiator hose, which is returning cooler water from the bottom of the main radiator to the water pump and engine. I'm talking about earlier minis with the on/off valve on the head. If you have the on/off valve at the heater, I would think that the hottest water should go to that valve first, then return water to the bottom radiator hose. |
