Hey All,
Tried to get the fuel tank out tonight but it’s being stubborn. The strap is undone, fuel line removed, cap off and fuel filler cap rubber off but it won’t come out. It appears to be stuck on what seems to be the fuel drain pipe which is running through a hole in the boot floor (see pics). Any tips on how to remove it??

Problem solvered!!!! After a tough time getting a spanner into the nut it loosened and I was fortunately able to unscrew it by finger spanner! It’s out. Many thanks for your words of wisdom.

Onto the next problem now which is trying to undo the rear nut on the bottom door hinge that abuts the bulkhead. Aaaarrrrrgh!
Can get a socket on it but can’t get the socket driver into the socket once it’s on the nut.
Can get a ring spanner on it but don’t have enough room to turn it!

There must be an easier way!

Mick,
You won't fit that ratchet ringy in because of the hinge bracket flanges and the wheel well. Buy a cheap ring/OE spanner and grind the ring end as thin as you dare.

Mine was cut off shorter, you can get a tube socket/spanner long enough to get it undone so you can remove the tank.

I use a piece of 1/2" square section inside a standard socket.

Brendon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I have a right size nut driver with a hollow shaft long enough to reach the nut on the drain tube. It works a treat.

It's a PITA. Just plug the damned thing with a 3/8" UNF grubscrew. RH tank has no drain, why should the LH one need one? Siphon the tank if you need to drain it.

I just use a good quality 1/4 drive socket set with universal. No worries with that.
