I need to wire in a wiper switch, probably just a toggle switch to get me going. I put power straight onto my wiper motor which has only a blue and red wire coming out of it. When i take the power wire off, it stops where it wants. How does the park function work?? thanks

If it's the old square motor with 2 wires it has no park. You park it yourself.;)
Parking versions of it had a micro switch on the gear cover.

It's a 1972 self parking motor but doesn't appear to be a 12AUW? If it's single speed it should have 3 spade connectors on it. You also need the correct wiper switch for it to work properly. A few weeks ago I posted a fairly lengthy description of how I got my 12AUW setup to work properly. There is also a very good "how to" on the board. Be careful how you wire it, get it wrong and you will blow fuses...

It's a Lucas UK 14W wiper motor, presumably fitted to the 1972 UK built Mk 3 Mini as per hpal's signature.

If you Google Lucas 14W wiper park there's mention of a switch to suit.

Also this how-to:

Cheers will look into it! I can only see two wires though with a spade on each, no park switch that I can see.

Here is the underside of the wiper motor. Just needs a new park switch?? And the other photo is of a wire and plug under the dash, I presume this is supposed to be plugged into the back of the wiper motor/park switch. Whaddaya reckon? Maybe the park switch played up and they removed it, dunno.

In the absence of comments from others who may know this motor inside out I suggest you Google Lucas 14W wiper park switch for information on how it works and the wiring and switches required.

For example, it looks the the park switch is an external component of the assembly.

... and here's a complete description of the unit, including maintenance and assembly instructions, plus wiring diagram.

Most Australian assembled Minis used locally made Lucas wiper motors so there wouldn't be much knowledge or parts for the 14W version.
