Do you need a support bracket on the exhaust other than the first bracket on the rear subframe If there is a bracket I presume it would bolt to the engine or gearbox. Other cars that I have worked on usually have a bracket at the front.Seems like a big load on the on the extractors without a bracket.Whish I knew more about Minis. Thanks |

Original S and Cooper 3-1 headers had a bracket onto the remote shift housing. There is an angled lug there for it. Not seen the bracket for years. If replaced with a modern LCB there is a flat bracket to the RH diff side cover, bottom hole. |

Hi Doc, are those brackets essential? I've been running my car years with no front bracket (there isn't one on my LCB) with no issues. Should I consider putting one on? (would be a major PITA...) |

You can just get away with it if you have a remote shift box and good mounts and steady rubbers. But I say run em if ya go em. But it's essential to use a front bracket on rodchange cars. |

Thanks Doc. I have the remote type and good mounts, rubbers etc. The whole lot seems very secure. (only a couple of mm clearance between the pipe and remote in places but it doesn't rub). I'll stick with what I've got... |

Thanks Doug. Looks like its an exhaust clamp as well as a mount? |

Yes it is similar to the flat clamps on a maniflow LCB but bigger diameter. |

Somerford have a very similar version. I think the Mini parts places or an exhaust shop could supply as well. http://www.somerfordmini.co.uk/eshop/in ... s_id=13935 |
