Tried Docs degreaser Turned em near black .Got white vinegar Nope. Got proper aluminium cleaner nope White residue This has been a big learning curve.
The answer was buy some white powder lol Hope the cops dont come around I bought 2kgs for 30 bucks .Citric acid powder .Do it with cold water not hot My god

So did it work. Needing to do some carbs. Usually just soda blast them. Interesting thread

This works I tried a few methods first Degreaser is alkali turned em black and all the brass jets .But I used hot water. next try white vinegar Didnt work good enough.Spent 50 bucks on an aluminium cleaner I thought was the bees knees .Nope White crap.The citric acid arrived today One carb done hot The other cold water .The aggression of the hot water accelerating the reaction brought a bit of white crap Do it cold I cant say how much i put in but ive go heaps left.When it turns green decant the stuff Add fresh and repeat My brass jets and carbs are beaut If there is a little white it rubs off with chux and the mix.Good news Its lemon juice acid and non toxic I tasted it lol This gets in all the galleries Cleans all the brass but yes I feel soda would give more bling to the exterior

Lost two tiny pump jet weight springs the other two are bent No probs coming from UK.Will be good

You don't really need those 2 tiny springs, most carbs I've seen including mine have them missing and they still work fine.

The brass weights sold now have no provision for the spring.
