On that note I've been told lemon juice and a toothbrush scrub works well on carbs too.

We use ultrasonics in my work. The key is a combination of the carrier solution and the ultrasonic action. The main advantage is it can loosen areas to small to access with a brush.

Just to add , i remember reading somewhere ( may of been here ) that "boiling" alloy parts in lemon juice works good as well , i was going to try it ages ago on an 1/12" carby to test the theory, brought the lemon juice and they are still sitting on the shelf in the shed .  .

Same here. They are fine for small fiddly mechanisms, etc, but not much chop on anything heavy.

Highly recommend this autosol stuff on its own Magic results
Docs method uses an alkaline degreaser It cleans the crap out of them but they went near black Fret not Chemistry says an acid will reverse that and yes it does.My carbs are now beautiful.I also used an acidic household cleaner to finish off.
