Just wondering if it is possible to date a Mini using any of the above!

Not from the FS Key numbers. The dates are stamped are on the items.

For example I have passport photos with Key numbers FS890 and they are issued to cars from 65,67 & 69. Key FS931 issued to car in 67 & 70. Key FS947 issued to cars in 67, 68 & 71. FS950 to cars in 66 & 69.

The windscreen wiper motor is a common one because they usually last many years. Lots of other items are way to replace but the more you look at then you would perhaps start to see a pattern in the dates. A surprising number of items have dates esp electrical.

Boot lock number is a good guide unless there has been rear damage.

When I first got my car I went through the following to see how original it was. Most were dated 67 and 68 so not as original as I thought.

Boot Lock, Wiper Motor, Fuse Box, Regulator, Starter Motor, Distributor, Generator, PCV lid, Horn Button, Horn, Starter Solenoid.

Its amazing how many things get replaced over 40 years.

From the input received above the boot key seems to be the key to go with.

I meant the date stamped on the lock, not the key number...

All I need to do now is find the boot lock date stamp!

Window glass also has a date, although on my Sept 1970 car the laminated windscreen is dated March 1970, from memory, so not really close to production date.

I remember you asking in an earlier post but I couldn't find a reference to the codes for that image, unfortunately.

I used this for my windscreen - http://www.bobine.nl/turner/01-general- ... ate-codes/

Try Googling - triplex windscreen glass dating

Thank you winabbey.

Tried Googling & the website last time but thought this forum would have the answer as Google etc don't help at all.

There doesn't appear to be a precedent for my pictured logo.

The stylised triangle logo is AS for Australian Standard - the majority of websites will have the "heart" shape which is BS British Standard glass.

I can't seem to find concrete evidence for the AS triplex but I think this is a reasonable educated guess? All guides I've seen don't have any examples with dots about the I in triplex. You could also try contacting Pilkington Glass, who took over from/changed name from triplex

Yours has the dot on the I in triplex - possibly 1973
On the second P in approved - third quarter
The R in ASRI - second month in third quarter
So possibly August 1973

You can see that there is a printed dot above the ‘O’ in ARMOURGLAS, and that ARMOURGLAS is spelt with one ‘S’. This is to allow there to be ten letters in the word, and each letter corresponds to a year in the decade. The years number from the first letter, so, ‘A’ would be 1971, for example; ‘R’ would be 1972, and so on. The decades also roll back around on themselves, so that the last letter, ‘S’ is also the year 1970.

You can also see that there is a printed dot under both the words ‘APPROVED’ and ‘ASRI’. The dots under the first four letters of ‘APPROVED’ mean the four quarters of the year; A = Jan-Mar, P = Apr-Jun, P = Jul-Sept and R = Oct-Dec. Hence the glass above was originally - and originally is an important consideration - struck in the second quarter of 1974, for fitting to an XB Falcon.

The dots under the ‘ASRI’ signify the month within the quarter, and use the ‘SRI’ letters. Hence, in the above glass, the letter under ‘S’ in the ‘ASRI’ indicates the first month of the quarter.
