Hello All When installing the rocker cover gasket is it best to use some hylomar gasket cement on one side ? I don't like oil leaks |

Or just stick it to the rocker cover using contact cement... Hylomar and similar can allow the gasket to slide out sideways when clamped down. By using glue on one side and nothing on the head side the gasket stays in place allowing you to remove and replace the cover as needed.. Cheers, Ian |

I use contact cement on the cover side and Permatex #3 on the head side. This allows it to be easily removed and also avoid leaks. |

As per what Ian & Morris said , i usually put about 6 - 8 small dobs of sealant on the rocker cover just to hold the gasket from bowing inwards on the rocker cover , let it cure then put cover in place on the head carefully without moving the gasket , i don't usually put any sealant on the bottom side . |

I second Morris 1100 above, but don't seal it to the head. They only leak if they move out of position on the cover. |
