I am fitting the engine to the subframe out of the car, can I fit the carbies ? I am lifting the body over the engine and subframe, also are there any other problems which may arise ? Thanks P7676 |

No you probably wont be able to fit the carbies. it is also much easier to drop the engine in from the top with the subframe already installed to the body. |

I've fitted the engine and subframe as a unit a few times, don't have any trouble with it... but no, can't do it with the carbs fitted, they hang over the crossmember when installed. |

I'm with JimL.... But be very careful with the exhaust manifold. Some ( including the original S manifold) can be almost impossible to fit once the engine is bolted into the subframe - whether or not the subframe is attached to the car... Having been caught out, I tie the manifold roughly in place with some thin rope before dropping it into the subframe. Cheers, Ian |
