The over rider bars slightly obscure the indicator lens on both sides, perhaps the bottom quarter of the lens. Is this normal/ legal?

Thanks

Michael

Edit: Just looking at the picture of the red mini crossing the stream in this page header, the photo was taken from above and both lenses are fully visible but I doubt that's the case if viewed from front on level with the bumper bar?

Uuuuummm ..no.

Perhaps you've got the bars back to front?? (i.e. rear bar on the front?).

The vertical overrider should sit about 3 inches inside the indicator c/l and the top of the corner bar is just below the bottom on the indicator...

Cheers, Ian

PS I assumed the front .... so didn't look at the back but pretty sure the rear upright is inside the indicator as well......

Ditto Ian's comments.
Indicator lenses are/should be visible from front view.

Thanks for that, will check. Didn't know the front and rear bumpers were different..

The little tubey bits that attach to the overriders are shorter at the back.... making the rear overriders closer to the end of the bars..

The correct bumper bar is on the front. On mine, the distance between the top of the bumper to the top of the over rider bar is 55 mm. Does this seem about right? 1/4 obscured is exaggerated, more like 1/8. I'm wondering if the over rider bar was mounted too high when it was manufactured? I could do a bit of grinding and mount it lower but then I would have a hole in the over rider...

I know what you mean. The bar is an identical height from the bumper front and back, and the vertical overider itself is identical for front and rear. The light does get a little obscured at the front by the horizontal bar, and in today's ADR context this would not be allowed. But back in the 1960s, style gazumped safety for the most part.

Your bar is fine.

Hi Tim,

That photo illustrates perfectly what I'm talking about though that car's indicators are more obscured than mine I think...
