I have attached some pics I hope to get advice on... sorry if you have to stand on your head to see them! Is this little tube the fuel breather tube? Where would it be connected to the fuel tank (cooper S). Also are these cables on the tank the battery earth cable & electrical connection? What effect is there if they are not connected ? The one that is off in the picture seems to be like that whenever any work is done on the Mini |

The left tank vent pipe plugs into the top of the tank and then crosses over to the opposite side of the car and goes down along the seat back and out through a hole in the floor next to the positive battery cable. Attachment: Left hand tank.jpg It is normal for the positive battery cable to hang down a bit, however it should be held by a P clamp like in this photo. I looked into my right hand tank today and noticed there is an internal filter attached to the lower joining pipe. Is this normal? |

Minis have a gauze mesh filter on the pickup pipe inside the fuel tank. They also have a gauze mesh in the fuel pump. They did not come out with any other filters. |

It exits the floor pan next to the positive battery cable. Attachment: Boot.jpg Your loose wire is the earth for the fuel tank sender. Just plug it back into the empty terminal on the sender unit. It's important that both tanks have the breathers fitted and that they cross to the opposite side. If not fitted or not crossing then there is the risk that if the tanks are full and you park on a sideways slope, the fuel will drain from the hi tank to the low tank then overflow out the breather. I think this is right in my car. I have attached photos of the tubes & tanks in boot. I had an MG that had that issue on a slope. Mini is much better! |

69Cool wrote: Tank photos Yes that is the correct way to prevent fuel overflow. That is some serious sound proofing. Its a shame they didn't do under the parcel shelf where quite alot of the noise comes through into the cabin. |

It is actually pretty effective. On some early cars they even added it to under the rear seat base. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

It’s funny, having the soundproofing doesnt make it any easier to hear the music. |

I enjoy the exhaust note too but also play music which I can only hear driving around town. Once the speed gets up the engine, exhaust etc drown out the vocal music haha |
