Hi all The drivers door window only retracts 3/4 way down. I dismantled and removed everything. There is a vertical panel the window winder mechanism bolts to (the triangular plate) between the door outer panel and the inner skin. It has has come adrift at the bottom of the door allowing the panel and winder mechanism to spring away from the outer door skin preventing the window from lowering fully. It has been been "glued" back in before with some black rock hard stuff that has failed. Does anyone know what the best fix is for this problem and what product to use? (apparently it's a fairly common problem) Thanks Michael |

Devcon is hard to find, do people think liquid nails will do the job? |

If you can't find devcon I'd use super strength Araldite. Not the 5 minute stuff... |

I think this is what you need to look at. I have a number of doors apart because of various problems. The section that I think you are talking about is spot welded to the top of the door and again to the bottom of the door frame and they rust on the bottom section. They seem to under some tension and I have been told that they are to support the door skin in the middle of the door. One photo shows one still in place on the door skin and another that I have repaired. The other photo shows that they have two sections of a thin substance (I will call it malthoid) and these stop metal to metal contact in the door. If you are looking at gluing this section into place you will need to put some tension back against the door skin by placing something (length of small plastic) big enough to pick up the bottom of the brace and the inner bottom section under the door pocket. A better product than Devcon or Araldite for this would be Sikaflex panel adhesive. It is available from Supercheap, and is pretty much the stuff that is made for this sort of thing. |

I've had the same issue with my window not winding all the way up. I opened out my for today to find a block of wood wedged against the panel as a temporary fix (by previous owner). I've rewedged the block of wood back in as a temporary solution. I guess I will need to look at using some panel adhesive as a more permanent solution. Thanks Fred |
