Is it advisable to attempt to remove a 0.005 inch bend ( indicated on the centre main bearing journal) of an EN40B Cooper S crank? Also needs grinding which will take it to 0.020 undersize. Has passed crack testing.Thank you. |

I had one of these which bent due to centre main bearing overheating. I was advised to not attempt straightening an EN40B crank but get it ground to the next undersize. It just cleaned up... ![]() |

Yeahbut Doc...if it was bent wouldn't it still wobbulate ![]() I suppose decent bearings and a careful balance would minimise its effect... |

Check balance after grinding. No problemo. Edit If it's .005" total indicator reading it will clean up easily at the next undersize. .010" smaller. |
