ausmini :: View topic - hydro displacers

I have a lot of BMC and Leyland documentation that references displacer part numbers and application for both UK and Australian Minis. The source includes parts catalogues, technical and service bulletins, service letters and engineering drawings. I'm aware there are a few discrepancies and anomalies in the content as a result of incorrect references being used by the author or simply typos.

If someone is willing to take on a task to create a summary of the various displacers used on Australian production Minis, their application and identification then I can provide a copy of the documents mentioned. Ideally the result would be posted in the How To folder for ongoing reference. It could include images of displacers showing their embossed part numbers and colour coding, plus a reference to the original source of the information.

I have fitted displacer 16521A2014 67 to the rear of my 1970 MK2 CS. Now I am having problems with the front, working out which ones to install. I have 5 displacers all in good condition. Some of the numbers are hard to read even with my number 3 specs. 4821A1705 66 1, 30521A1804 66, 3482372 66, 6121A21 D9, 8921A20088. As I previously said some numbers are hard to read. Also can the metal plate at the other end of the flex hose be glued back in ? Maybe some kind person may want to swap or sell one so I have a match on the front. P7676

In case it helps deciphering the stamped part numbers, the format is nnannnn, so 21A2014 or 21A1705 for example.

Rating --- Markings --- Part Number Normal - f NIL 21A1477; 1 orange or green 21A1804 or 21A2008 Normal - r NIL 21A1703; 1 orange or green 21A1804 or 21A2008 Stiff - f & r 1 yellow 21A1705; 2 orange bands 21A1811 Hard - f 1 red band C-21A1819; 1 blue or silver 21A1872 or 21A2012 Hard - r 2 red bands C-21A1821; 2 blue or silver 21A1874 or 21A2014 For each hardness rating, the first-quoted numbers were for earlier production and the second group of part numbers seem to apply to later cars.

Yes winabbey, Was thinking the same thing as I was typing that list so others could use it. This issue comes up often enough to justify some attempted summary. I have a vague interest in this but don't pretend to have any expert knowledge. I am happy to supply information I have collected. It does need to be source referenced as you say, if it is to have validity.
