Had an interesting find a few weeks ago, that my rear belts are two different styles to aid in putting them in the correct side. There are a few comments currently on the end of my build thread (start fof page 6 for those who find this in the future) about the topic. Just wondering if anyone else has found this in their cars, the question mainly directed at Australian mini's assembled at Enfield. just to see if this was factory thing or after market. What a weird coincidence; I've been trying to get a matching set for the back for ages but now I can enjoy the asymmetry instead of pretending it didn't bother me.

I did a short google, just image wise, and the images I have seen for the LS's seem to be as per mine. |

Two of my Range Rovers have been the same as well, I think it was as stated to prevent the belts being crossed over when worn. |

Too funny. I also have mis-matched sets and can't decide what to do. Found out by accident when I tried to take a couple of kids for a ride. Do you have them so they cross over like X or have them so they don't cross like > < ? Graham |

It is standard factory to have odd belts. It is a safety feature, it stops the belts from being plugged in to the wrong buckle. |

I would assume that they "Cross" so the belt isn't pulling on the keeper in the middle. |

There was always about 3-4 minutes of confusion anytime I took passengers in the rear because they just assumed the belt bolted to their side belonged to them. It's important that each crosses to the other side which is why Leyland made them deliberately odd. You still see the same in more modern cars often with a centre lap belt being different.
