The 21A2014 part of the number says it's a rear Cooper S displacer. The 67 after that could be the year?? But the 21A2014 is a Mk2 Cooper S rear displacer unit I thought which makes 67 too early? |

I agree with mini210 about the numbers in that 21A2014 was the last/stiffest rear displacer made for hydro systems and fitted to Ss when they became available. The "67" was the year it was made. These 21A2012(f) and 21A2014(r) were fitted to later Mk1s as well and were not necessarily just for Mk2 Ss although they and the Clubman GT also had them fitted from the start of production. The prefix numbers before the "21A..." have been speculated about here but no definite answer has come forward. Possibly a production code. |

Thanks Bill, So if the 67 is the year of manufacture you would say that the 21A2012 & 21A2014 hydro displacers were installed on 67 Mk1 Cooper S and on? Were these displacers used on any other car or Moke? |

As I understand it, 21A2012(f) and 21A2014(r) were installed in Australian made Ss from 1967 - from Mk1 through to all Mk2 and GT. (Not just Mk2.) They were definitely in 1969 Mk1. These displacers were not fitted to other cars. Mokes didn't have hydrolastic suspension. Some parts lists show there were comparable displacers to the above: "Hard - front 1 blue band 21A1872 or 1 silver band 21A2012 Hard - rear 2 blue bands 21A1874 or 2 silver bands 21A2014. To me this implies blue and silver were equivalent in damping. Winabbey's Australian drawings show these displacers with brown/orange dots for identification. |

From a previous thread I was on, the best suggestion was that the first three numbers on yours are the day is was built, ie. the 165th day of the year 1969. More info here. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=84897 |

John Sneddon's book on Australian mini production lists Mk1 S YKG2S2 3716 being the first to have blue band (21A1872) replaced by silver band (21A2012) in December, 1967. The list doesn't include the rears but would assume they changed together. |
