G'day guys and girls hope you are well! I have a dilemma my newly built motor blows condensation out the breather. I have a hose connected to the breather into a bottle and it slowly catches whitish watery stuff which I assume is a mix of mostly water and a little oil. I also lose water from my radiator. I have compression on all cylinders and the car is running fine. No oil in water or water in oil or water out the exhaust. What's your thoughts?

Not saying this is the problem but i have had a couple of 1275's done similar and it was in the head the brass plugs in the head face one was loose in each case I replaced them and all was good

What do you mean the brass plugs on the face of the head? You mean the anti pollution heads? If so this head isn't one of those. If not can you explain a bit more cause I don't understand. Cheers

I'm assuming GB'62 is referring to the brass inserts in the face of the head (for the cooling system).

How new is newly built? They tend to have a bit more blow-by until the rings properly bed in.

Done approximately 2000kms. Sorry I'm still confused where these brass plugs are? Do you have a pic??? Are they hard or easy to replace?

No pic on me... You would have to remove the head to look at them as they are pressed into the face (the part in contact with the block).

Ah yea I understand now. Are they hard to replace or expensive to replace? How do you know if they're no good and need replacing?

Is it actually loosing coolant? Could just be atmospheric condensation

Ever litre of fuel burnt creates over a litre of water vapour. Some gets past the rings. If engine is running cold or doing short runs, water vapour condenses on the coldest parts of the motor. Eg rocker cover and breathers. Called 'mayo'.
It is very common on engines with poorly designed crankcase ventilation, like Mini deluxe and Mini K. If a PCV system is fitted, it doesn't happen.
I would first check running temp and thermostat before ripping the head off.

Playboy doc that's worth a mention as my car is running cool. I think too cool. Runs 60 or less degrees sometimes will nearly reach 70 but soon comes back down. I changed the thermostat as the one in it wasn't working but is doing the same thing still-running cold.
