I was just wondering what people do to heat there garages.

I have 50m2 wooden non insulated shed i need to heat over winter so i can work on my cars.

I do not want open flame as last time I used the gas heater i set me and my workshop and cars on fire.
six months recovery, two weeks off work, pissed off wife and one burnt mini.

I am in NZ so it can get to under 7 degrees in the shed.

Any thoughts

If it's your shed (not renting) I'd go with a budget reverse cycle air conditioner.
Benefits in summer too, and I think it's the most efficient form of heating. Can't you insulate the shed?

Thermals and a boiler suit? Or a Large electric oil heater? Or look for a surplus aircraft engine heater to blow hot air in through a vent from outside? Or even a home made one? that would keep the heat source out of the shed?

Mine is a 9m x 9m steel ranbuild. Walls are insulated with wool bats and covered with yellow tongue. No heater required. Warm in winter, cool in summer. I suppose a reverse recycle air con would have been much cheaper though.
