Firstly sorry about the wheelie bad joke, I just couldn't help myself! But my question is... To flare or not to flare?? I am currently looking into purchasing a new pair of rims and wheels and wanting to stick with 10", I currently am just rocking 10X4.5" just as standard and upon looking around for wheel found the 10X6" had the biggest variety but I am not willing to go a massively over aggressive flare. I was most interested in the 6 x 10" Ultralite Anthracite Deep Dish, but unsure what flares I would need and how far they would stick out from the car. Or is it best to stick with the 10X4.5 / 10X5 and just rock no flares/small flares?? I am lost on what steps to take and trying not to buy something that is the wrong size! I have a 1968 Morris mk1. Currently just sitting on 10X4.5, no flares. How should I proceed? PS. If anyone has pictures of what they have done, please show me so I can get a feel for what it would look like, Thank you! |

10x 6 ultralights you will need something atleast as wide as group 2 race flairs. You will also need to modify your wheel arches to allow it to turn Had them for a while and had to do the above as he plastic innocenti flairs (which are as wide as the standard mk2/clubman flairs) didnt cover them |

Ahh, thank you. Do 10X5" require flares? I am assuming so? |

Does your car just have the standard drum brakes front and rear, or has it been upgraded to discs and spacer drums at rear. This will effect the result. Be also aware that it is just not the width of the wheel but the offset of the wheel that is worth considering. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Never thought it would be this confusing. I am just rocking standard drums all round, maybe best idea is just to stick to 4.5X10, no deep dish or anything fancy? |

I have spaced drums and with 10x 5.5s they stick out almost 2. 5 inches which is what "wood and pickett" flares cover. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk |

I'll echo what others said. Depending on offset, but as a general rule of thumb when I was searching for mags it seemed 5" are fine with Aussie Cooper flares. 6" work with Wood and Pickett. (Other flares like group 2 will factor in there somewhere too) I run 10x5 with front discs and rear spacer drums and Aussie flares and the top tread is covered by the flares. If you have the standard drums then your wheels stick out less, so there will be a greater number of wider wheels you could probably choose without needing flares. It's important to understand the "wheel offset" measurement. You could look at 10 different styles and brands of 5X10 Mini Mags and they could all have different offsets and therefore all extend in or out by varying amounts. If you look at sites that sell wheels you will see the offset quoted and you can make some measurements. Easiest way is to check out other minis with drums with the wheels you like and see how much they extend out. |

What about contessa's which are 5 inch and would look good on standard drum setup. Plenty of these around at reasonable prices. |

Which won't need flairs if fitted to standard drums.... But if you want the Cooper S look you could fit spaced drums all 'round ..just like Leyland did with the Clubman S. Cheers, Ian |

998LS Contessas are inset 1", are legal without flares. Getting scarcer though. |
