Ahoy miniacs,
This prob has been covered before but I'm writing this whilst bored at work so have to be a little sneaky & can't search for an answer.
I'm finally at the point in my mini rebuild that it's interior time. Carpets are down and I'm putting in the seats, and here is where my question starts. In my clubby, the front seats had a little brackets at the back that stopped the seat from tipping forward, but the 850 I'm doing up hasn't. The front original seats seats I'm putting back in tilt forward whenever they please unless someone is sitting on them belted in. The 850 is a '62 so its a lot older than the adr for seat anchoring but will it pose an issue come roadworthy time and is it something I should get sorted now to stop any future issues?
Radical & thanks
Trent

No roundnose Mini here had the tilt stop bars on the floor. They came in around late 1971 on the Clubby.
There is no registration problem with original type seats in early cars.
I have a 1970 now with Cobra Classic seats, they tilt forward too. No problem.

1971 Mini K, 71 Van and 71Cooper S certainly had Tilt stop Bars on Floor. All of which are Roundnose cars...........

Unbelievably...some people even acquired the seats from a different car and used them in their car :!:

Wot were they thinking

Id be too scared to use the flips without the brackets! That being said its a small hook on a smaller spring...

Trust me, they don't flip up, with or without a passenger. As long as you wear your seatbelt.;)

Spot on. Esp. with my 105 kilos. no chance of flipping forward.
But the brackets are useful in that they strengthen the floor pan at the point where the seat frame rests.

Many years ago I hit the brakes hard in my 69S. Passenger seat flipped forward, hit the windscreen and cracked it. Not happy.

Sometimes , when on a long trip,I fasten the seatbelt over passenger seat for this reason. Most likely to stop suddenly on short journeys though..........

hahah If I don't have my seatbelt on and I hit the brakes super hard, ie emergency brake I will flip up... But I am running a Brake booster, along with Minisport 4 pot calipers...

Fantastic big brakes.. and lots of performance

Yawn.... which will still only apply as much instantaneous retardation as a set of drums..

Cheers, Ian
