Hi all
I'm looking to replace the standard air filter on my clubby for a K&N one. Is E2601 the correct one? It has a smaller diametre to what is in the clubby at the mo.

Thanks

It's what MiniSpares list as suitable for a HS4. (which is standard for 77 Clubby)

Im just wondering if the smaller surface area would lessen its advantage over the standard (and larger) filter.

I've not used that style k&n so hard to say.

The hs4 air filter housing is much larger than the hs2 - so in comparison has a much larger area to start with.

My first mini was 77LS with a hs4 .... as I drove it home thought I'd got a lemon - struggled to do 90kmh. Changed the air filter and basic service and then capable of over 110kmh.

My other minis have had twin Su and replaced with k&n - never had any issues and being re-usable have paid off over time.
The version for the twin HS4 is probably a smaller filter area vs this style.

Many will argue paper is better if the quality is good ; but is highly variable even from same manufacturer. K&n at least have a high quality. Many web articles out there claiming to show superiority of one over the other ....

Use a Ramflo filter over the K&N... I had K&N's on my Twin HS4 setup and switched to Ramflo's, noticed it was a bit perkier, the K&N's can be a little restrictive.

K&Ns are a premium product..and like any specialist item are not fit and forget.

The main issue is that to work properly they need the correct oil applied in the correct amount... Too little and they don't filter as well, too much and they clog up...

Its not too hard. Do it right and their about as good as you can get.

I've got this one on my car (as part of a minispares kit) and works well. It should be overkill for a reasonably standard 998. If it flows more air than the factory style paper filter you might need to adjust the tune a little.

I just make sure it isn't covering the throat to the carb when installing (it's a metal filter box)

Thanks for the replies guys.
I've bought one (came pre-oiled) so will see how it goes.
