Is it possible to take the handle out of a door quater glass? Mine are pitted and would like to rechromed them if I could. |

Yes there's a small pin holding it in place, you'll need to knock it out with a pin punch. I began to remove one but ended up buying a new quarter window as it was just too stubborn and flogged out to remove, I could have drilled it out but was easier to buy another. I have two brand new handles to fit to my quarter windows, but the old one's roll pins stubbornly refuse to budge. I've pretty much given up on this because I don't want to wreck the windows! Any clues? The roll pins are so tiny that a suitable punch just bends... |

I have considered doing this too. Nobody I have found can tell me how to remove the old pin without damage to everything else because the pin is in a blind hole and not push-through. I seem to remember that one of the girls on here has tried this and vaguely thought she had some success... |

There are a few NOS left side windows around, but I haven't seen a right side one for years, ( & that's the one that I want!). |

As for pin removal, drilling is probably the only option, as Jenk said. I recall trying that, and using a soft iron nail trimmed to length as a replacement. Hardly ideal but maybe worth a shot. |

A thread resurrection, but as per the original post, is there a method to remove the handle or is it still as above (i.e. replace the whole window)? |
