Hi all I'm looking at getting a s/h tacho for the clubby and would like to be able to check that it works before buying. Can I bench test or does it have to be connected to car wiring? Any help much appreciated. P.S. Can't believe how much fun it is to drive an old mini. Just popping down to the shops is an adventure! Eiles |

no simple way to test it - it's possible, but you'd need to make / buy something that simulates the make-and-break distributor output if you want to test before buying, take your mini with you and hook it up |

Eiles Its a little tricky...but you can inject a square wave into the unit...and vary the frequency etc |

Square wave can be defined as a non sinusoidal periodic waveform that can be represented as an infinite summation of sinusoidal waves. It has an amplitude alternate at a regular frequency between fixed minimum and maximum value with the same duration. Square wave generator are generally used in electronics and in signal processing. The square wave is the special case of rectangular wave. The square wave generator is just like a Schmit trigger circuit in which the reference voltage for the comparator depends on the output voltage. a Schmitt trigger is a Comparator circuit with hysteresis implemented by applying positive feedback to the non inverting input of a comparator or differential amplifier. It is an active circuit which converts an analog input signal to a digital output signal.
