I don't know about the brand - there seems to be an endless supply of new names around. I was looking for that style of flat bearing but have just fitted the fat ball (or roller) bearing that has been the only available type. What was your bearing outlet name? |

Are the flat bearings really any better? They were designed for the old coil spring clutch. I have 10 years on an ordinary RHP 7W-5/8 one with orange dot clutch. No noises or problems yet. ![]() If that FKC flat bearing IS Made in Japan, it should be fine. But be aware there are many Chinese fake bearings about now. With major brand names. Found this via google- "Fkc-Bearing.com is Chengdu West Dimension Digital Technology Co. in Chengdu, Sichuan, ... Xi an Unisun China Parts & Bearing Tech Development Co., Ltd" |

Doc, i bet you are running an older bearing carrier,, you know ones the actually register on the Hardness scale!.... a good question though , is an upgrade necessary,, i wonder if the smaller face bearing and the soft carrier have a shorter working life, maybe it is just mechanical empathy to just want to run a wider bearing surface/ |

Yes, I do run an old carrier/plunger but that is a different problem being soft these days. My other Mk2 S box has a new (soft) carrier but with a hardened steel bush I fitted. |

And the new carriers have a slightly small hole for the ball end of the lever. Just found out about that. |

I got the same brand from SimonK on here but it says RHP 3/W 5/8 on the box. Not sure what the difference is but he could tell you if the brand is good. I haven't put mine on yet, engine just being built now but I bought the bearing from him a couple of years ago. |
