I have the light wired in, one lead goes through the firewall into the loom, then the one with the white stripe seems to run out of room to go anywhere and just ends with a plug end. Any ideas/pics? ![]() |

Is the door switch on that side connected? What colour is the wire? |

There is a single crossover wire that travels across the dash under the soundproofing. It connects the 2 door switches together. It doesn't follow the rest of the wires into the engine bay. |

I asked the same question a few months back and gtogreen answered it too. To complete the wiring, is this correct: the short purple/white lead with the bullet connector poking out of the grommet has come from the courtesy light in the cant rail and needs to go into an insulated twin joiner. The RH door switch also connects to this joiner with the long purple/white lead across the dash as shown in gtogreen's photo. Then another short purple/white lead from the joiner goes back into the door cavity through the grommet and connects to the LH light switch. This means "bluehishouse" needs a twin joiner and 2 more lengths of cable and 2 door switches? |

Sounds correct. The courtesy light is "earthed" (or "grounded", if you're a Yank) via the door switches, which when fitted form the "earth". At the courtesy light, there should be a purple wire (no tracer) that's the "hot" wire to the fuse block. The other side of the light is the purple/white wire as ID'd by Bill. |

No no, my car has no switches. No holes, no wires anywhere around the doors or jambs that could have been switches. So i have one lead from the light going to the fuses, then this short one just out of the grommet on the pass side. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk |

Was it a fleet special or has it been modified by deleting the door switches? If that bullet terminal touches earth, the light will come on at random and stay on. |

Well it didn't need the earth, I think something was the wrong way even though I copied what i removed. I flicked the switch and it cooked the wire all the way to the fuse box and melted the new light housing. Pretty lucky it didn't catch on fire. Guess I'll be pulling new wires through before I get anything done now. What a joke. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk |

There is a fair chance the short may have fused to other wires in the loom going to the rear of the vehicle. A thorough inspection would be adviseable. |
