I believe most were fitted to the passenger fender. If not the passenger fender then they were fitted to the roof. Being a factory option some cars were not fitted with one. Yours is the first I have seen with it fitted to the drivers side. Attachment: CIK740.jpg Attachment: clubman_GT_1.jpg Attachment: 1971ClubmanGT.jpg

GuamMini wrote: That is true based on your photos it is always on the passenger side even my Mini K it is on that side. I wonder if it did not have any antennae and then someone decided to put it on that side. Should I cover the hole and move it to the passenger side. What do you think? If its not in the way then I would leave it there. In the future if you are doing rust/paint repairs then re-think swapping it over. I am sure you have a list of other things you can go on with. |

Most end up on passenger side as probably is not in the drivers vision so much. However my Dad years ago had a theory that the drivers side was his preference as that placed the antenna further from the roadside power lines and so less interference. No idea if that makes sense but he relocated them on a few of our cars. Also means you can reach it to raise lower while still sitting in the car. Someone years ago had the antenna on drivers side on my mini too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would suggest the passenger side was normal because most Mini radios are fitted under the dash on that side... (Yes, I know the factory Clubbie fit was in the middle) Even then, coming from the pass. side the antennae feed didn't have to wend its way around the dash wiring/speedo cable etc... Cheers, Ian |

I know it's not what you are asking but one of my Clubby's the aerial was on the drivers side & on another it was on the passenger side. Brad |
