Hi All, I'm trying to thin down the parts collection and I've got a couple of flywheel housings: 1 x 22A524 3 x 22G1921 The gearbox I'll be using is a 4 syncro 22G1128. Where do I need to check for wear and which ones are suitable? Cheers, Tim |

Wear point is the flat face around the idler bearing. Can't remember the housing numbers but you want one with the breather boss on top. If it also has a machined lug sticking out near the outrigger bearing boss its a rodchange one but will fit the 1128 case. Trial fit the housing on the case with both dowels and an idler gear in. It should spin freely. |

Thanks Kevin. The 22A524 doesn't have the breather boss, the others do but blanked off. Looks like the 4 synchro ones should also have a bigger idler bearing too so I can sort them out. |

4 syncro remote housing has a 1-1/16" bore for the bearing. Uses a caged roller with 3/4" bore. Most 3 syncho housings had a 1" bore which took a 3/4" uncaged roller bearing. |

I think some later Oz Mokes used this bigger bearing as well.... Otherwise they all take the same size idler gear. Also check the inside of the housing in the area of the breather. Some seem to have better shielding to prevent oil being chucked out... Cheers, Ian |
