No idea, looks interesting though! Almost looks like an accessory drive unit for a fan or pump?

Is there a casting number on the casing that might be searchable?

Interesting answers from all of you. Maybe it is for a rear engined vehicle of some sort. That does look like a selector shaft on the end. I'll chase up some more pictures.

It has no gear linkage to remote, that's what suggested it to me. A bit elaborate for simple job but typical pommy engineering.

From some UK brains:

As I have explained on Facebook a few times today, it's a Deep Sanderson gearbox from their rear-engined Le Mans car.
Std 3-synch 4-speed, with a special gearlinkage bolted on the side. Works very well apparently.

Rear gear linkage for the twinni mini, similar sort of age to the Deep Sanderson so could have been developed at the same time, good cut away drawing in Sports Car Graphic July 1963.
Neil Preston has one of these.

So...if it is out of a Deep Sanderson...maybe contact the Owners Club and let it go to a good home for some dollars :?:
