Does any one have an Australian parts book which lists the part numbers of the galvanised hydrolastic pipe "protectors" fitted to the underside of the 1965 - 67 cars? I have read that the part numbers are HYA 3812, 3813, 3814 & 3815, but which one is which? Obviously there are four of them, two at the front (opposite hand), & two at the rear (opposite hand). |

I asked about this on another forum just yesterday in search of the part numbers. Now that you've provided them I've been able to find a reference in the last of the round-nose Mini parts books, but no images (see below). Out of interest the long one-piece covers that appeared with the Australian floor pressing are HYA 3825. Attachment: PUB1012 M07-1 R.jpg

The four cover plates were released into Australian production on 18/2/1965, so presumably were fitted from the start of hydrolastic suspension. I wonder why it was felt there was no need for similar protection of the brake, fuel and power cable and pipes on earlier rubber sprung vehicles? |

It didn't take too long for BMC to realise they needed them after some rallying! |

I believe during the "Crossroads to Alice" adventure (Evan Green & Co. who used a block of wood to support the DeLuxe's burst suspension), BMC realised the hydro pipes were somewhat exposed. |
