There should only be about 8 or 9 wires that go to the back. If you are finding that the actual Bullets themselves are too bulky. Try folding two or three of them back at the beginning of the tape. Pull by the left over wires tied to a piece of wire that you have to feed through pillar first and use some talcum powder. I have even done this by soldering a wire to one of the bullets to pull by. Then unsolder it again once through.

I hear what you're saying and this is the way I approached it initially, there are a few looms that branch out toward the back like the interior light and rear indicators, Brake lights. Fuel sender etc. and these looms make the harness much thicker at that end I tried taping them together tight but then you have to shove it up the pillar and it still snags in there.

Hi sounds like you are working on a later Mini, if you have a plastic block type connector? I managed to install a new rear loom into my 850 (with intact one piece headlining) by feeding a length of parachute cord through to use as a pull-through (but any strong flexible cord would do). I attached this before removing the old loom, pulled the old loom out towards the back, then attached the cord to the new loom with some knots and duct tape to help smooth it out and ease it through. I didn't have any major problems at the front (it was tight though even with the old bullet connectors), but I did have dramas at the back with something catching around the C pillar and cant rail area. Eventually I got it into place, but it wasn't fun. Be patient, and take your time would be my advice... Good luck. The Vinwire looms are excellent - look after it!

Hi All, I have a new Vinwire wiring harness that I'm having difficulty trying to install, its the rear section of the harness that's proving difficult. So as far as I can tell the snap connector of the rear harness needs to be fed down the pillar and out of the exit hole where it meets the other half of snap connector, problem is when I feed it down the pillar it makes it about 3/4 of the way down and catches on something inside the pillar and therefore cannot exit. given its not working this way It has me thinking am I doing it right but I cant see any other way that it can be done... it cant be fed through in reverse as there is just to much loose wire to push up the pillar, the only other way to do it is maybe remove the individual wires from the snap connector feed the wires through pillar without the connector, then reattach connector. Has anybody done one before? how did you do it? any help appreciated. Maybe the connector is to bulky and cant pass through the pillar but I would think Vinwire would make them to same spec as original. thanks in advance

That connector block stays on the firewall and the other end of the harness is what you need to be getting up the pillar and along the roofline and into the boot. Cheers

David, The headlining is not in place and as I wrote earlier I tried the leader cable and taping the branches to the main branch but this just makes it thicker and therefore harder to work up the pillar, hence why I chose to do it the other way by starting at the snap plug end and working it down the pillar, but anyway I will preservere with going up the pillar...with a leader chord. Thanks appreciate your help.

Hi tartanred, Car is a 67 deluxe the loom is brand new the headlining is removed. I am able to insert some chord through to use as a pull through but it doesn't pull through easily! I might have to use a little more force... will give it a try. thanks for your input.
