I have a 1977 Clubman van to sell and thinking about best way to sell? Do I put it on the market as is? It needs a respray as previous owner has done a pretty rough job and the engine and gearbox needs a refresh but mechanically has been looked after with new brakes cylinders, new shocks, ball joints all adjusted, newish A008 tyres, new RC40 exhaust. Really needs some TLC. Or do I spend some money and fix it up? Has very little rust, good solid body which was repaired by previous owner prior to dodgy respray. Thinking about stripping paint back to bare metal and giving the car a respray and freshen the engine with new rings, bearings and gearbox overhaul. Would I get my money back or do I let someone else spend the money and the time? Looks like vans are selling from 3-4K non running up to 10k+ for good condition? Interested in people's honest thoughts? |

I guess it'd depend on how rough it actually is. Some people who would be after a van would want it to be useable for putting stuff in the back and not worrying about scratching it up. I've been sort of looking for a van for a while, what is it like? |

Leave as is...and don't take any rubbish about how its going to cost thousands to respray... Your colour choice is not everyone's ![]() ![]() |

I can prepare and respray so only need to pay for materials plus I can build engine and gearbox Tim, what are you looking for? It drives ok but uses a bit of oil and gearbox a bit noisy, I am in the process of re painting the roof as paint was really bad but rest of body paint is rough, painted really dark blue, almost black |

you'll get your money back OK, but what's the opportunity cost of doing the work, what would you do otherwise? |

Time v Money. To be truthful, I'd sell as is and wait for the right buyer. Any running/driving registrable mini is worth at least $5k, $6k with rego. |
