What is the size of the tread? Can't find the nuts that fit - the ones I have screw on but don't hold as though the thread is stripped but it isn't as it's the Nyloc stripping not the metal. |

the nuts are 3/8 UNF I think. Take a 9/16" spanner. Try a head nut for fit. |

No Go ! - first up these are the longer ends for more adjustment. 3/8"NF are too small. 7/16"NF screws on about 3 turns and binds. Using a die out of the tap and die set what will screw on all the way is one labelled 1/8 NPT27 !!! Wondering if it is 1/8 BSP - either way where can I get nuts (preferably Nyloc) EDIT- using pitch gauge (Under magnifier) pitch is 1.0mm Vernier calliper diameter= 10mm so looks like a metric fine thread |

Why would anybody use NPT or BSP threads for mechanical parts fastening...! Where did you buy them, and surely they came with nuts?? ![]() BTW, NPT and BSP are not the same. |

Hi, very good question. I had to clean the threads on mine so took it to an engineering friend who had the correct die. It is UNS (unified national special) and is finer than UNF. I believe that minisport have nuts, at least I'm planning on buying some from there. http://minisport.com.au/mini-moke-tie-r ... old-single |

Is wombat talking about the lock nut for the knuckle joint or for the ball pin. Nyloc on the radius rod (coming out of the rack end) would be a bit unnecessary/odd.? |

Ball pin. I fitted some recently which had funny sized nuts too. |

Defiantly metric - there is a Metric Fine standard of 10mm diameter and 1.0 pitch but everyone selling Metric Fine is selling 1.25 pitch these pins are too big for 3/8 and too small for 7/16 so 10mm is on the money and the pitch is defiantly 1.0 on the gauges under a magnifier, so I either have to go through every nut I can find in the garage, find someone selling them or buy a whole new end. |

M10x1.25 nyloc nuts should be readily available. It is considered the metric fine standard. M10x1.5 is the ISO standard (coarse). 1.0 pitch is used on many diameters for fine work, eg the Mini speedo cable connection is M12x1.0. Metric is not that simple, an M12 thread can have one of 6 different pitches. |

Definitely! You just had the wrong end of the tie rod end. |

Champion nuts and bolts stand at the new AutObarn store in Noosa had 10mm 1.0 nyloc nuts that fit perfectly. 5 for $6.99 so I have spares now. By the way did you know if you join the "Autobarn Club" you get a 20% off coupon for your first purchase (didn't waste it on a $7 item but)Better than Supercrap who only give you $10 discount which you "buy" for $5 when you join their "Club". |
