I just noticed this disaster :cry:

A few weeks ago I put the car on a friends ramps to have a good look underneath.
The damage on the bumper both sides matches the top rail on the ramps. Only the right hand under panel is damaged.

Anyone have any ideas on how to repair the panel damage and how difficult it would be? The bumper damage is only really visible looking from underneath. I'm going to have to do something to prevent rust where the chrome is broken. Any ideas?

I hope others can learn from my screw up. Always check there will be adequate clearance before driving on to ramps :(

bugger.... you must've driven up pretty fast to do that much damage. Normally you hear it start to scrape and go "oh crap" and stop before any real damage is done

it's a pretty good spot to learn/practice some panel beating skills though, find some tutorials on youtube... basically a hammer on the inside and another on the outside and bang it back in to shape

hi Simon,

Drove up at normal speed. Fairly noisy car (weber, exhaust etc) so didn't hear a thing. Should have had someone watching :-(
Not sure I want to practice learning to panel beating on it, it's the only mark on the car...

A good panel shop would sort easily. Thats what insurance is for.

Excess is $500 dollars Oz. You think an insurance company would cover that sort of self inflicted damage?

Comprehensive insurance would cover it. Thats the whole point of it :)

Yep they should. Accidents happen thats what insurance is for. Worth a call to them

If they say no change insurance companies. It will cost more than 500 to fix the damage at a panel shop.

Yeah, insurance covers accidental damage no matter who causes it. Unless you 'accidently' drop your cigarette onto the boot floor after the lawn mower fuel can 'accidently' leaked in there. :wink:
