G'day guys and gals, just asking for some knowledge. I have a few things on my Christmas list this year that are mini related one of these being paint to paint my mk 1 Cooper s heater. Now I am unsure of what the paint is all I know is it is crinkle paint on the ears and face...not sure about the rest of the body or even if there's different types of crinkle like gloss, Matt, satin etc... so can someone give me an idea of what to tell my wife so she knows exactly what to get. What was it originally is what I'm asking. Thanks

It's called black crackle. Body should be same colour as the ears.

The body of the heater is the same "colour" Black
but Not the same finish main body is not crinkle finish

As John Smidt said: the main body parts are painted semi-gloss (or satin) black. I have used Dulux Super Enamel house paint (in semi-gloss finish) - available in spray cans, for all those subframe, brackets, cowls etc for a long time for a factory finish. They can also be powder coated in semi gloss if you prefer.
The ears and the front panel are painted 'wrinkle' finish. VHT sell a spray can called 'Wrinkle Plus'.
