Found a couple of 3 synchro gear boxs that look to have reasonable gearsets in them.
Laygears are 22G231 and AD016.
Are these gearsets anything special or just 850 and deluxe?

22G231 is B form Laygear
ADO16 is A form Laygear

If the diff hemisphere housing in the gearbox with ADO16
is a reddish brown colour.
and it is in good condition, you have probably the best
ever made hemisphere housing " In my opinion "
and can be used in all Mini Gear Box's

Is the "diff hemisphere housing" the one that holds the spider gears?

Yes, Spider Gears are also referred to as planetary Gears.
