Hello all,
Possibly a dumb question, but what is the difference between LP 883 & LP 918 Cooper S wheels, - My Mk1 has LP 883 wheels, which do not fill the wheel flares that South Australia dictated as fitment from new. - The 918's may be a better option if they are for the Mk2?

LP883 are Cooper S wheels and have a high offset. Fit nicely with Cooper S brakes and no flares
LP918 are not factory fitted. Also known as "reverse rims" as they are similar to the Cooper S wheels but have the centres welded in a different spot so they have a lower offset. Fit nicely with drum brakes and no flares. They stick out an extra inch approximately so would work pretty well with flares and Cooper S brakes

Thanks Timmy, I reckon that answers my question perfectly!

as Timmy said, LP883 were also fitted to MK2, LP918 were basically for owners of deluxes etc. who wanted the Cooper S look

MK2's with LP883 wheels tend to not fill the flares, even with fat tyres like Dunlop Formula R

If you fit 918s to an S with stock flares in SA, your fun police can probably ping you. They insist the whole tyre is covered, not just the tread as in other states.

[edit] This is why S got flares in the first place, starting with Mk1s in SA.
